Day 2: Visit of the Emberá Community

The Embera community lives along the San Juan de Pequenin River. To get to the community, you must cross a dam called Madden, an hour from Panama City. It is a one-hour canoe ride that feels like a wonderful National Geographic experience that you will not forget!

You will listen directly to the natives tell you about their life: hunting, fishing, farming and collecting materials for their crafts, how they treat their diseases and more. Experience the native Emberá dances up close and watch them make their tattoos, woven baskets, dishes and masks. Take a walk in the exuberant jungle to learn about their medicinal plants. Enjoy a traditional Emberá meal of plantain and fried fish / chicken. The Emberá are very kind people, they love to share their culture and learn from others.
