The Anton Valley is a unique destination as it is one of the 3 inhabited volcano craters in the world. With more than 30 popular tourist attractions, including hot springs, waterfalls, animals, the public market, ancient petroglyphs and a mountain in the shape of a sleeping indigenous woman.

Saturdays and Sundays are the perfect days to visit the public market with its fruits and vegetables sector and handcrafts sector. Visit the local market offers a wide variety of orchids, flowers, fruits and vegetables; all locally grown. You will also see beautiful local crafts of indigenous communities.

Your driver will pick you up at 8h00 am from your hotel in Panama for a trip of about 90 minutes to “El Valle”.

Upon arrival at Anton Valley, you will visit the following places:

Nursery and the Zoo El Nispero, established in 1978 by the Caballero family who love plants and animals. At first, it was mainly a plant nursery with some animals, but thanks to an international exchange program now there are many animals that come from the Americas, Asia, Mexico and even as far away as Madagascar. Of course there are also many animals native Panamanians and the nearly extinct “Golden Frog“.

“Chorro Macho”, that is located on the road to the village La Mesa. It is a private Ecological Refuge belonging to Mr. Raul Arias. It is the highest waterfall in El Valle with an approximate height of 35 meters coming from the Quebrada Amarilla; under the waterfall, a natural pool which according to the legend is enchanted. Called Chorro Macho, because at the foot of the Cascade, tapirs used to go in droves to drink water and tapir is commonly called “Macho de Monte”.

One of the most admired plants are the orchids: we will head to the Orchid Conservation Center APROVACA, who was founded in 2001 in order to preserve the native orchids endangered, since they confront two major problems: deforestation and hunting for sale. They have a nursery for breeding and conservation. They also sell hybrid orchids and have a sponsorship program of “Flower of the Holy Spirit”, which is the national flower of Panama, to raise funds for conservation projects. They receive financial and technical support from the Japanese government.

You will finish discovering the wonderful world of butterflies in the Butterfly House “Butterfly Haven”, created by American Jon Owens. It consists of a House of Flying with a hundreds of beautiful tropical butterflies and an educational station. But Butterfly Haven goes a step further in that it has a mission to promote the conservation of butterflies and nature providing information on how to attract and protect these magnificent creatures. They also provide information on how to grow gardens without the use of toxic chemicals.

At the end of the day, your driver will drop you at the Park Eden Hotel for your overnight stay in this magical site.

The next day, after breakfast, you will take the Chorro Macho activity: the Zip Line. At the end of the activity, you will be taken back to the hotel, where you can have lunch and prepare for your return to Panama City.
